Meet George "Buddy" Król: the unconventional detective

My name is George "Buddy" Król (cruel). I am a fictional character, created in 1977. I am a CPA, operating in State College, Pennsylvania, near Penn State. I started my childhood years with a good friend, Don Hough, who introduced me to law enforcement. Don died on Saturday, 22 November 1980 after one of those cases. I gained such skill that often I found myself in danger, even though detective work was not my profession. I returned to detective work after many years in law enforcement. Well, prepare to be surprised.

From concept to published mysteries

This site presents an opportunity to be creative. Back in 1977, I created my own mysteries, using a combination of Hardy Boys and Jessica Fletcher. In 2024, I published nine mysteries written between 1977 and 1991, to put the total at fourteen. I combined three stories, III to V, into III. It is a critical mystery that develops the character for the following mysteries. I published most of the past cases in 2024, using artintel pictures, not available when I wrote them or my own sketched scenes. I would like to join any group of creative writers on the internet, so let me know if you belong to any such groups. It is the written equivalent of Toastmasters.

The continuing adventures of Buddy Król

2025 saw new cases, "Based Baseball", with more to come in 2026. There's for 2025 "Based Baseball"; the story takes place in 2020 in an alternate universe. For 2026, I intend to explore earlier origins of the character and when he developed into a detective in law enforcement. "Partial Partners" sets in 1967. "Farming Farm" will run in 2027. Each new story brings a fresh perspective to Buddy's evolving character and the mysteries he unravels, always with an eye for detail and a touch of the unexpected.

My Translation from French:

Listen well, old friend. I know my job, eh? I have had the same amount of adventures behind me, so I know what I must do, okay?

I like this more worldly Tintin, which is why I try to keep Król as real as possible in my stories. Of course, my publishing these stories helps me further develop the characters!

I have placed the simplified Tintin below with his talking dog, Milou (translated as Snowy in English). There are a few parallels between Tintin and Król, so I've placed Tintin along with the others as inspirations.

What a magnificent crossing this is, Snowy!

(Dost thou) Findest this merry? This boat which moves like a turtle, and where nothing ever happens?

The one that needs much work is is "Mike's Murder IV", so the sequence doesn't quite match yet. I wrote it in 1983. I will be combining the very short ones from right afterward between 1984 and 1986. I expect to get at them in 2026.

Here I am on the left with my best buddy as we try to solve the Case of the "Crime for Christmas" in 1989. I finished writing it in time for Christmas. I transcribed it with little editing.

I would have loved to have played Joe Hardy in that series. Actually the version was too tame. I preferred the strong Joe Hardy of the books. Of course, Perry Mason was much tougher in the books than on television. In any case, I'd have lightened my hair, and my eye color is much closer to blue than Shaun Cassidy's!

I am seriously considering a rewrite of all mysteries into this site. It will be quite an undertaking!
